Brigitte Bardot was once the last word in female cinematic allure during the 1950s and 1960s, though most of her films were in French and few were regarded as classics. She was born in 1934 and retired from movies in 1973 just before her 40th birthday. Her retirement happened just after completing her 48th movie.
